We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Manager – Low Risk to join our Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career and join a global business with a £2 billion + turnover.
4 on 2 off, rotating shifts between 6am and 10:30pm
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Check the correct and required paper work for fire register and safety start up sheets are filled in at the start of every shift and handed in with any required corrective action. Take / make the appropriate actions.
• Ensure all staff are correctly dressed with the appropriate PPE and working in the correct manner within the department at all times.
• Check with Shift Supervisors and Despatch Team Leader that Liaison with the Labour Coordinators has taken place, to ensure all manning levels are correct, arriving or arrived on time and skills are distributed correctly. (Supervisor line plan)
• Ensure a professional and well-communicated shift handover takes place, always use, and read the shift handover book & read the previous shifts report that is e mailed to the department to support communication between shifts. Attend daily communication meeting in absence of the Operations Manager at 9am and 1630 pm.
• Maintain the Production File so that efficiency, booking out and line performance information is checked hourly for accuracy of information and communicated / action accordingly.
• Liaise and communicate effectively with the planning to ensure that priority deadlines are met, the plan is kept up to date and all relevant communication is cascaded to the supervisors, line managers and operatives, including Despatch and Chutes. Make sure any / all amendments are passed to all shifts.
• Liaise and communicate effectively with all factory departments (Including Security) to support the effective running of the shift and its overall performance. Ensure all breaks and changeovers and planned to maximise efficiency. Ensure lines are running optimally for yields and efficiency.
• Liaise and communicate with the Transport team to ensure the correct and appropriate action is taken to maximise efficiency around load plans and vehicle costs, keeping Part Pallets down to a minimum. Ensure the Despatch Team Leader communicates the (21:00 hours) decision on vehicle requirements. Ensure priorities are loaded and delivered on time.
• Working with the Technical, QA, Engineering, Process and NPD teams ensure all standards of quality are adhered to.
• Trials & first Production must be given full focus and launches are successful, to the customer’s satisfaction, specification and delivered on time in full. Line Manager spot check audits to be carried out and corrective action taken where appropriate. Things like training records, sop’s and risk assessments should be trained / signed off.
• Ensure the SIC (Short Interval Control) procedure is strictly adhered too on a hour by hour basis ensuring efficiency, yields and downtime are managed effectively and corrective action taken if required.
• All relevant stock checks taken and communicated effectively and any packaging issues recorded and marked up for the appropriate action. Ensure yield reports are answered quickly and correctly.
• Liaise with Engineering to deal / communicate any issues and support problem solving.
• Manage all Absence and Holidays for the Department.
• Ensure that a high level of housekeeping is maintained and Good Manufacturing Process in place.
What are we looking for?
• Have previous experience costing complex multi-stage manufactured products
• Have previous experience within the food manufacturing industry (not essential)
• Be either part/fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
• Have excellent EXCEL skills including the ability to perform VLOOKUP's and Pivot tables
• Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work is essential
