About The Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist – Management Accountant to join our Finance Team in support of the Beverages division.

As a Specialist – Management Accountant your role is to business partner the Wine team to provide insight and guidance to aid them to deliver the business plan, holding them to account in a supportive manner whilst ensuring the aims of the business are met.

This role is a hybrid role and will require working with the Wine team in Asda House, the finance team in Normanton, and balanced with effective working from home where appropriate.
 
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Hybrid working is also available

Your key responsibilities will include:
 
  • Your role will be to business partner the buyers for Beverages to support decision making and helping them understand the financial impact of those decisions.
  • You will own the weekly Commercial meetings to ensure a proactive approach to challenges that may arise and own the weekly financial MI for your area with support from the Assistant Management Accountant, and will provide a full and consistent analysis of the prior period.
  • The Assistant Management Accountant will be a direct report into your role and therefore you will be required to support, and guide them, to both enhance their skills whilst also working together as a team.
  • You will provide decision support and financial insight into trends and prior performance to help inform future decisions and forecast future P&L risks and opportunities in the medium to long term along with understanding from your business partners what impacts (not necessarily financial) are in the short term.
  • Supporting the Continuous Improvement work stream to help identify and evaluate future initiatives, providing counsel about the wider impact on the business making sure these are imbedded in the plan.
  • You will also provide insight on the drivers of cost performance including, but not limited to; exchange rates, commodity fluctuations, strategic initiative delivery, buying performance, mix and volume.
  • You will understand how different sales channels have an impact on the overhead recovery of the business and understand and interpret prior, present and future logistics costs to understand how we can utilise our own network to its optimum or other routes.
  • Involved in the monthly preparation of commercial MI to summarise performance and help bring together the commercial story, driving effective business decisions you will also implement and routine upkeep of cost calculators to ensure standards and costs are accurate to enable future accuracy of forecasting.
  • You will provide robust inventory forecasting & reporting to aid effective understanding of the current and potential future inventory position, including the build of the inventory budget.
  • You will be responsible for the full bottom-up building of the Beverages budget gained from effective business partnering, harnessing big data, and the use of digital tools to guide the business. 

What are we looking for?
 
  • It is essential that you have previous experience in a Finance Business Partnering role – within FMCG and be commercially focussed with strong analytical skills (MS Excel).
  • CIMA Qualified (could be newly qualified) – will consider ACCA and part qualified CIMA accompanied with the right experience you should have the ability to build and develop collaborative relationships and ability to challenge the status quo with stakeholders.
  • A strategic thinker you should possess excellent communication skills you should have proven ability to manage and organise workload within tight deadlines.  With a right-first-time ethos, you will be a strong problem solver and passionate about root cause analysis.
  • A self-starter with a high level of motivation you should possess a resilient attitude and desire to see things through to completion.
