We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Apprentice to become a vital part of our onsite Engineering Team at our Protein site in Normanton. If you are passionate about Engineering and eager to contribute to a dynamic team, this role is perfect for you
You will support the Engineering Team in maintaining, repairing and improving manufacturing equipment and site services while undertaking a structured apprenticeship programme. The apprentice will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study.
Whilst undertaking this apprenticeship you will learn the skills below -
Engineering Support
- Assist engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
- Support breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Learn how to fault-find on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automated systems.
- Assist with equipment inspections and condition monitoring activities.
- Support machine changeovers and production start-up activities.
- Help maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in engineering improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Support waste reduction and energy-saving initiatives.
- Assist with implementing engineering best practices and 5S standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Comply with food safety, hygiene and quality requirements.
- Support risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Report hazards, near misses and safety concerns promptly.
Learning & Development
- Attend college/university/apprenticeship training as required.
- Complete all coursework, assignments and assessments on time.
- Build knowledge of engineering principles, maintenance techniques and manufacturing processes.
- Work towards achieving apprenticeship qualifications and competency standards.
- Seek feedback and actively participate in personal development opportunities.
